Magnolia Bakery Cupcakes

The famous New York-based Magnolia Bakery opened in Dubai last February 10 inside the Bloomingdale's Department Store. I bought two of their melt-in-your mouth signature cupcakes to cheer up Hubby who is soo stressed with work.

Red Velvet and Lemon cupcake with butter-cream frosting. Each costs 12 AED (4 USD). Their regular chocolate cupcakes sells for 10 AED.

A red velvet cake was a signature dessert at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City during the 1920s. According to a common urban legend a woman once asked for the recipe for the cake, and was billed a large amount. Indignant, she spread the recipe in a chain letter.

We found them too sweet for our liking. And the frosting was just too much! I'd happily let go of it next time hihi. I like cupcakes and we'd still be back though -- just not any sooner.  Hubby as i gathered, would happily chew on dried beef chili than buy a cupcake =)

This looks like decadent luxury! They are definitely art works even if they are too sweet!
