Rialto Bridge

Weeeeeeee! Glad to join the fun again on ABC Wednesday!

My entry for today's letter R is a popular architectural icon in Venice, the Rialto Bridge. I took the photo on board a vaporetto early morning as we were about to leave for Milan.

Rialto Bridge or Ponte De Rialto is the oldest of the four bridges spanning the Grand Canal of Venice. The bridge has three walkways: two along the outer balustrades, and a wider central walkway leading between two rows of small shops that sell jewelry, linens, Murano glass, and other items for the tourist trade.

Worldless Wednesday

A detail of the St. Mary of The Assumption Cathedral in Piazza Dei Miracoli in Pisa, Tuscany. On our third day in Rome, we decided for a day trip to see The Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Gladiators!

A photo opportunity with these dressed-up gladiators costs 15 Euro.

A gladiator was an armed combatant who entertained the Roman Republic and The Roman Empire in violent confrontations with other gladiators, wild animals, and condemned criminals.

Spring Flowers!

We're back from our holiday in Italy! I took this photo from a local flower shop near our hotel in Via Calabria.

                                                             April flowers of Rome.
