10 Things I Am Thankful For....Right Now.
It's been awhile since I made a post on thankful Thursday. Been awfully busy but just to gather my thoughts, here are the things making me smile =)
I love mornings with my little man! |
1. Company will pay for our DEWA. I breathe a huge sigh of relief since the apartment is equipped with three heaters yay!
2. Discovered a new favorite book - Margaret Atwood's The Blind Assassin. It's a beautiful, beautiful read that makes your heart cry out. I coulnd't get over it that after reading the last page, I went back to re-read lol!
3. I made Peach-Mango float yesterday and that makes the fridge so inviting!
4. I got my own dashboard in PayU2.
5. It's been a productive week, thank you to one DA who purchased three ads.
6. I received my first two tasks in B2B - Mr. Adam is real generous!
7. There's a well stocked Filipino store nearby selling garlic longganisa, soft mamon, and Goldilocks polvoron.
8. Weekend getaway.
9. Morning walk with Andreas with birds chirping around. I can pick fresh flowers on the courtyard as we go along
10. Somebody wonderful is married to me =D

Our Indian Visitor
Yesterday afternoon, ne of Hubby's long time friend here in Dubai dropped by for some tea. Subash is native from Kerala, Inidia who owns a truck purposely used for cargo and and at times helping people when they move from one place to the other. I think it is quiet a lucrative business here in Dubai since there is so much tenant movement.
We met Subash back in 2007 while moving from Deira to Bur Dubai. He didn't speak and understand much English so we spoke to him using a lot if sign language. We learned that we were his first customer for his "moving houses" business. He charged us only half of what was quoted but Hubby gave him the full amount. Subash was soo happy that he asked for our contact number.
After two years, we heard good news from him that he brought a bigger truck, His English vastly improved and he wanted more clients, targeting the near emirates, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. So Hubby informed him that aside from the word of mouth, he needs a business card to market his service.Hubby even sketch a logo truck for him just to make him grasp the idea better.
He proudly handed us his new card complete with business logo design. He is serving clients now as far as Ajman and Umm Al Quwain with plans to buy another truck. Congratulations, Subash! May you inspire a lot more of your countrymen.

What’s for dinner?
It's been awhile since I pulled something warm from the oven so we had pork baby back ribs in sweet sticky barbecue sauce. I served it with French white wine from Hubby's business trip. It's our piece of heaven on a Sunday night.
What’s the last thing you bought?
A couple of shirts for Hubby.
What are you listening to right now?
No music. But the sound of traffic passing the Trade Center Road.
What do you think of the person who has the same birthday as yours?
Uhmm,...The world is her stage. I think that she loves the 'proper' life, she strives to be cultured, a generous party host, independent, faithful lover, likes art and music,... she has dull moments, but the best gift you can give her is freedom and a walk in closet.
If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?
New York.

Describe your personal fashion style?
Now that's hard to answer lol!..Well, over the years I've learned to be a little more restrained. No prom dresses but opt for maxi. Pencil skirts. Pearls. Good tailoring. And if I wear something above the knee, then chest needs to be covered. I don't think you should reveal them at the same time unless you are on a beach holiday.
What are you going to do after this?
Sleep
.

Melon, mango, seedless grapes.

Moving House....Moving On
In barely a month's time, we will be moving to a new apartment. It is a two-bedroom property with three full baths and a hall. We have decided to let go of all our furniture and start all over. After all, whatever we have right now, were bought four years ago. I feel sad as these were all witness to our struggles and glory but sometimes you have to let go so you can start anew.
Calculating everything we need to buy which basically includes three bedroom set, three shower curtains, dining room and living room set, we are looking on ways to save. The living room has a floor to ceiling glass window so we are definitely on the lookout for some Cheap Vertical Blinds to provide some privacy.
I am excited yet a little anxious as my interior design skills will be put to test, yay! Though I love clothes and fashion, I've always secretly wanted to be an interior designer ((^_^)).

I Won A Free Template!
I've been blogging for almost five years now, trying to document our life as expatriate family in Dubai. I am very thankful for this hobby because I get to make new friends online. I meet a lot of fellow blogging Moms out there who also has a very limited social life due to chores at home. When it gets lonely here in the desert, I simply visit other blogs and for awhile I do not feel so alone anymore.
I currently own two blogs, one for personal and one for fashion. Last week, Mommy Chris informed me that I won a free template through her Thanksgiving Blog Contest (just one of the many perks of blogging). I was very delighted because as I read more on website development, I learned that to get more traffic, it it very important that your blog should be as unique as possible - starting with the header. I felt guilty because even though I bought my own domain, I always use the free templates available. When I started to ask around, it costs around 30USD to 50 USD. I started to save up for it but when I learned about the contest and the prizes, I wasted no time to join.
I'm very thankful that I won because February also happens to be my birthday month. ((^_^))

How to stop your boss (or anyone) from making passes at you
As he leers towards you, scrunch up your face, peer closely and say, in a slightly repulsed way, "You've got something in your teeth," as if it's something really revolting. He should be embarrassed and slink away to remove it..

B is for Baklava
A rich, sweet pastry made of layers of filo pastry filled with chopped nuts and sweetened with syrup or honey. It is characteristic of the cuisines of the former Ottoman Empire and much of central and southwest Asia.
