Aigner In Leather scent subtly reminds me of CK Eternity (while Hubby thinks it reminds him of Virgin Vie Seduction) -- only that it is more refined, deep, and sensual. I love that the hint of wood and leather was infused in a manner that provides calming effect.

After sharing a post on how to use essential oils, we move on to your guide on the ancient healing art of aromatherapy. I will share with you today which specific oil is good for what use.

A Guide To Essential Oils

Aniseed: Good as a room freshener. The aroma helps clear a headache. Use in the bath as a relaxant.

Basil: A bracing tonic, good for clearing the head and giving the mind strength and clarity of thought. Helps poor memory and induces restful sleep.

Camomile: Particularly good for dry skin. Use as massage for aches and pains. Its scent also helps lift depression.

Eucalyptus: Us as an inhalant to relieve colds. Makes a great room freshener too. promotes a feeling of well-being, provides a sense of clear headedness.

Frankincense: This oil is rejuvenating and is renowned for its skin toning powers. Inhaled, it is useful aid to meditation and can help releive apprehensiveness, insecurity and paranoia.

Geranium: An oil which refreshes and balances for emotional harmony. It also soothes skin irritations and hlps heal burns. Blends wll with lavender and bergamot.

Juniper: use as a massage oil. helps reduce the swelling of arthritis and is effective on dandruff and acne.

Kanuka: An antiseptic oil and alternative to tea tree. Its aroma is refreshing. Useful for relief of spots, cold sores, and athlete's foot.

Lavender: One of the most popular oils. Use undiluted on minor burns and insect bites and add to your bath for a relaxing experience.

Marjoram: Warming and relaxing, this oil has sedative effects to help you sleep. A hot compress with Marjoram will help soothe sprains.

Neroli: Soothes dry skin and is an anti depressant. Gives feeling of peace and helps improve circulation.

Orange: Sparkling with freshness, good for those lacking energy. promotes well being and spiritual awareness.

Peppermint: Use in bath water to cool skin on hot days. Inhale to help concentration and relieve headaches and travel sickness. is mildly antiseptic.

Rose: A great friends in teh fight against broken veins, puffiness, and beneficial for mature skin. It helps nervousness too. Either inhale or use in the bath.

Sandalwood: a relaxant that promotes feeling of wellbeing and boosts self esteem. Good for anti-stress massages. A few drops in the bath leaves skin smooth and pleasantly scented.

Tea Tree: Strng anti-bacterial properties. Good for spots and acne and disinfects insect bites and wounds. Dab on neat. A must for the first aid box.

Vetiver: Makes a great relaxant when used in the bath. Its fragrance resembles lilac so it also adds a gentle scent to bed linen.

Ylang Ylang: Calming and relaxing, Ylang Ylang has a rich scent  that creates a feeling of well being. use in a massage blend or room fragrancer.

Note: Except for lavender and tea tree, then oils must be diluted in a natural base oil like grapeseed, sunflower, or wheatgerm before applying to the skin.

Hair Care Products I Use

For some reasons, I can't stick to a shampoo for a long time. Once I used up all the bottle, I have to buy a different brand. If i insist, whatever hair softening properties the shampoo has, stops working for me. So for four years now, I alternately use these:

 

 Loreal Elvive Nutri Gloss, Clear Complete Soft Care (the best anti-dandruff shampoo I tried), Palmolive Naturals Hair Repair - they all smell good!

I do not use the hair conditioner that goes with these shampoo. A conditioners makes my hair limp and oily before the day ends. It cannot even prevent split ends which has notoriously attacked my locks hence I always preferred the bob cut.

But for awhile now, I am wearing my hair long and the split ends had minimized dramatically. For the first time in my whole life, I enjoyed letting my hair down There are nights when I'm brushing them that I think, this has gotta be the best part of me LOL! It's never been treated and I love the fact that it has volume and and the fringe on front gives a sexy tousled locks.

So what moisturizer worked for my hair? Baby Oil. Before taking a shower, two to three drops of baby oil on my palm and using my fingers, I ran it through my locks - being very careful not to reach the scalp. Then I go inside the bath, shampoo, rinse and that's it.

Facial & Skin Care Products I Use

I was recently invited by ImRiz to her new kikay meme called Beauty Madness. I cannot share much because i am not fussy about make-ups and I certainly don't have a beauty regimen. But I value all my blogger friends so I will try my best to be a part of this meme.

The first topic, which I missed talks about Facial Care. Funny because teh other day, Hubby asked If I ever used Eskinol back in the Philippines. He's got six sisters and probably wondering why he does not see any facial cleanser in our bathroom (grin).

I think cleansers only dries up my skin. With the kind of weather we have here in Dubai, I opted to invest on moisturizers. I use a separate day and night Olay Total Effects Moisturizer.

Currently, the topic is on Skin Care and this is where I go gaga about. I'm a huge fan of body moisturizers - especially the scented ones. Our bath is full of those pretty little bottles! 

Bath & Body Works Sea Island Cotton

While the weather is still warm, this is my current my favorite. Even Hubby complimented the refreshing scent, and he is not known to appreciate perfumes or colognes. He says he finds them too artificial (grin).

B&B Warm Vanilla Sugar

And come December or when it is cold enough, I will be using this for my bubble bath. Boy, its makes your skin good enough to eat!

Yardley English Lavender Soap

As for soap, I recently tried Yardley and I like the creamy lather - and it's old English appearance.The lavender scent too wafts comfortingly every time you open the bath.

Liyali Beauty Salon

I visited them last night for the second time. I had a hair cut and eyebrow threading (ouch!!!). This is the third salon I entered in all our four years in Dubai. And so far, Liyali Salon provided me the best service.

It's common for girlfriends to exchange salon business cards but I am always hesitant to recommend because I wasn't quiet satisfied with the service. This time, I can proudly recommend =)

If you ever drop by Karama area, the salon is located  at the same level of SANA Fashion. All the staff are Filipinas so bet that you are in good, experienced hands.

Their services include facial, baths, hair colors, rebond, hot oil, cellophane, and everything else you need for beauty and hair maintenance.

I only visit a salon for two basic things and Liyali Salon charges the following:

Haircut - 40 AED

Eyebrow threading - 10 AED

Definitely a good value for money.

Affordable Oral-B Brush Heads

There are only two brands in the world that my husband cares about - Levi's and Oral B. You can buy him any of those 3 for 100 polo shirts and he won't say a word. You give him any brand of beer in can and he'd gladly gulp it down in one sitting. Even when buying those gadgets and laptops, it does not have to be Acer or Mac so long as he sees it durable, worth his money, and serves the purpose.

But when it comes to his jeans, it has to be Levi's or none at all. The same way with his electric toothbrush. Only Oral-B will do. Though they are of extreme good quality, these are not the cheapest brands so I am always on the lookout for sale. Fortunately, I found this site called Brush heads which gives amazing deals on dental care and skin needs. I was able to buy a three-pack brush head refill of Oral-B Floss Action 3. Hubby maintains two toothbrush - one for office and one at home so these are exactly the deals a budget Mom like me looks out for.

Oh by the way, the site also reveals about Clarisonic skin brush which can reduce visible pores, blemishes, and dry skin patches. I think that is exactly the beauty tool I am looking for these days. I gotta save up for that rather than spending so much visiting a facial salon.
